Crocheted Burgundy Wool Shawl, 1971

Shared by New Zealand Fashion Museum

My sister, Patti Langrish-Smith, has always been very keen on knitting and crochet, and she made this shawl for me during the hippy era when crochet garments were very popular. It was made with love and care and I have kept it wrapped in tissue paper for over 50 years alongside other precious garments. Patti was still a teenager when she made it and was self taught.
