Dispensation / Ethelbert Lodge, No. 99, Springston

Framed Dispensation [establishment] certificate issued by United Ancient Order of Druids, Grand Lodge of Australia, 2nd January 1880 to Ethelbert Lodge, No. 99, Springston. The Dispensation reads: To whom it may concern whereas at the desire of James Mager, A. Parish, W H Haddock, P. Wilcox, W. Page, H. Teague, G. James, W. Parish, E. Hoskin, W. Keely, E. Evans, E H Cattrall, J. Rowell, W. Hoskins, John Rowell, H. Nelson, J B Goodrick, E Keely, G. Hannah? G Rogers, W. Griffen, L. Trott, J. Small, F. R. Matthews and others and by the recommendation of the Pioneer Lodge No. 47 this Dispensation for holding a Lodge at the House of ------- known by the sign of ------ situate at Springston under the title of The Ethelbert was granted by the Board of Directors of the above United Order. And it is hereby ordained and appointed that this Lodge No. 99 shall hold its meetings in the aforesaid House on every alternate Monday and on no account or cause whatever shall change such place of Meetings or be transferred or removed from the above Town or House, without the knowledge and consent of the Board of Directors being first had and obtained under the Penalty of Fine or Forfeiture of this Dispensation and its number being erased from the list of lodges of the United Order. And it is further enacted that the Board of Directors in Consideration of having received Three Guineas for this Dispensation do empower and authorise the Arch Druids and Past Arches to initiate Members agreeable to the way and manner set forth in the Constitutional Laws of the Order. And the said Lodge Ethelbert do hereby agree to pay such Annual Contribution to the Grand Lodge and Board of Directors as set forth in the Constitutional Law of the United Order and the said Grand Lodge and Board of Directors conjointly pledge themselves to support and protect the aforesaid Lodge Ethelbert in all the rights, privileges and benefits arising from and appertaining to the said United Ancient Order of Druids. And the said Lodge do likewise engage to obey the constitutional Laws which are now, or maybe hereafter formed and also to perform all such further Acts and Deeds as may be considered requisite and necessary for the better regulation and welfare of such United Order, agreeable and in unison with the spirit and purport of the Constitution and Laws and the objects of such United Order. In witness we have each and every one of us by virtue of our office, hereunto affixed our Hands and Seals, this second day of January, One Thousand eight hundred and eighty.
