A black and white photograph of sisters Ivy and Jessie Saunders taken possibly at a re-union, as name tags are visible. The names are written on the front of the photo. Jessie Elizabeth Saunders born 1898, passed away 28th November 1981. Aged 84 years. Stalwart from Riverton Salvation Army Corps, Sister Jessie Saunders was the Corps Secretary for 53 years. Jessie along with Phyllis Bailey ran a stationery/ gift shop on Palmerston St for almost 40 years. Ivy Evelyn Saunders, Ivy was born on the 1st of February 1905, never married and lived in Riverton, Canterbury and Nelson before returning to Riverton where she died on 28th August 1987, aged 82 years. They are interred together in the Riverton cemetery.
