Karihi (fishing net sinker)
Shared by Western Bay Museum
Oval shaped stone with a slightly pointed end. These types of stone sinkers were attached to a drag-net for catching flounder (pātiki) and mullet (kanae) and used to weigh down the nets. This one was found at Waihi Beach.
