George (Teoti) Robert Howell was the son of Captain Howell and Kohikohi Paatu, born c1839. Known as 'old gentleman Howell', he married Isabella McNaughton in 1861 and they had 10 children. Isabella was born in Dowally, Scotland, in 1839 and died in 1921, a 'faithful and affectionate' wife. She was 80. George died in 1937, then Riverton's oldest man, in his 98th year. Alexander Christie was Born in Dunning, Scotland in 1845, he married Catherine Jane Feilding in 1869, and they had 10 children. The Christies farmed Inverlochy near Waikaia, and the Christie family are still farming there today. Alexander died in 1935, a year after his 'beloved' wife.
