Lease deed / Lease of Rural Section 2839 in the Province of Canterbury, E.W. Stafford, Esq. to Messrs Rollo and Sharp, dated 14th December 1866. Two foolscap sheets, one in two parts, both fragile. Lease is between Edward William Stafford of Nelson and, James Rollo and John Sharp, farmers of Lincoln District. Summary: A five year lease for 246 acres, lying between RS2821, Raupo Creek, RS2635, 2491 and 2490. Located approximately corner of Robinsons and Ellesmere Roads, then Halswell Road by Ladbrooks and Dawsons Road. Payments: Year 1 Stg 61 10s, Year 2 & 3 Stg246, Year 4 & 5 Stg184 10s. Agreed in the first 18 months to break up and lay down artificial grass or otherwise cultivate 150 acres of the said land and keep the same in good order and condition. That they will pay the lessor the sum of Stg2460 for the purchase of the land.
