A kukri (Gurkha knife) with steel blade, wooden hilt and characteristically notched ricasso. The kukri has a wooden scabbard that is covered in leather; the top, outer face is decorated with a section of embroidered leather with a paisley design. A kukri (or khukuri) is a type of machete originating from the Indian subcontinent. They are traditionally associated with the Nepalese and Indian Gurkhas.
