The National Paleontological Collection (NPC) is New Zealand’s largest and most comprehensive research collection of fossils, accumulated over 160 years by GNS Science and its predecessors (including the New Zealand Geological Survey).

It features a large collection of type, figured, reference and bulk fossil material and includes associated digital catalogues and paper records that describe the collection. Many of these are specimens of international significance. Total specimens number in the millions.

The NPC is recognised by the New Zealand government as a collection of national significance. It is housed at the main GNS Science campus in Avalon, Lower Hutt.
