Luttrells White Pine Gardens and Working Pioneer Museum is an ongoing project that was begun in 1985 and is privately owned by the Luttrell Family Trust. Luttrells White Pine Gardens and Working Pioneer Museum covers 5.2468 hectares and contains one of the Manawatu's largest remaining single stands of Kahikatea Forest, regenerating native bush, and wetlands. The Kahikatea or White Pine Tree is the tallest native tree of New Zealand growing to a height of up to 60 metres. The native plant arboretum walk contains over one hundred named varieties. You will also see some of the many introduced and native species of bird and animal life found in the New Zealand wild.
Luttrells White Pine Gardens and Working Pioneer Museum is dedicated to doing its part to preserve the natural and historical history of New Zealand for the benefit of present and future generations through awareness appreciation and education. Step back in time! View the many articles used by early New Zealanders in their everyday lives. From farm machinery to household items. Read the histories and share your memories. Arrange for a tour or a demonstration.
