Ashburton Museum is home to an extensive collection of objects and archives pertaining to the social history and heritage of Ashburton District.

We house over six million photographs, with collections such as the Binsted and Tindall negatives, as well as the Halma glass plate negative collection. Maps, plans, and various records for properties, clubs, schools, and companies also comprise a large portion of our archives.

Our objects collection includes hundreds of Maori artefacts from the Wakanui site excavations from the early seventies, a stylish selection of textiles and uniforms, and various other ephemera.

Ashburton Museum is centrally situated on West Street (State Highway One), Ashburton.
