The Marlborough Art Gallery, one of New Zealand’s youngest public art galleries, opened as the Millennium Public Art Gallery in December 1999 in a renovated building opposite Seymour Square in the centre of Blenheim. A group of local enthusiasts saw the region’s need for a public art gallery and brought their dream to reality.

At the Gallery you will see work from leading local, national and international artists in a fantastic range of regularly changing art exhibitions, programmes and events. The Gallery is dedicated to providing an accessible and informative visual arts experience and is proud to have received several awards. Exhibitions range from solo to group compositions and are sourced through the Gallery’s growing permanent collection, artists and other institutions. In recent years, the Gallery has initiated regional cultural projects and contributes to many collaborations outside the gallery building - including festivals, regional promotion, sculpture acquisition and youth art installations.

A not for profit organisation, governed by a Charitable Trust and professionally managed; the Gallery's operation is supported by an extensive network of volunteers. It is funded by an annual Council grant, donations, fundraising and sponsorship as well as sales of local and New Zealand made art work, jewellery and books from the gallery shop.
