Te Whare Taonga o Te Awamutu Museum, located at 135 Roche Street, Te Awamutu, is the oldest museum in the Waikato region, and houses collections and exhibitions relating to the history of the Waipā district.

The collection contains extensive material relating to the New Zealand land wars and colonial settlement in Waipā, as well as the district’s unique documentary heritage, including historic photographs, maps, whakapapa and family histories.

The museum also offers a wide range of educational programmes created specifically to grow and nurture children’s knowledge of the district, regional, and national social history.
