Located in the old Waikanae Post Office building built in 1907, a Category 2 Heritage Places Trust building, the Museum’s collection showcases the natural, social and cultural history of the Kapiti Coast District. The Museum features interactive displays of early telephones, a telephone exchange and military telecommunications equipment.
Permanent exhibits include a replica early to mid-20th century kitchen, a school room and items illustrating the early agricultural, forestry and whaling industries established on the Kapiti Coast.

Current Exhibition : The current exhibition that opened on ANZAC weekend displays the radio operator’s position and actual equipment used in a World War II Lancaster bomber. Alongside this is a diorama of portable communications equipment used by soldiers in the Pacific during the Second World War.
