We are primarily a RESEARCH centre, but we do also have both static and changing displays of material held within our CWA Community Archive, or that has been loaned to us specifically for the purposes of showing history.

PUBLIC OPENING HOURS:
Our CWA Archive - Community & Heritage Hub, is now open to the public as follows:
Summer Hours (Oct-April) are Tues-Fri each week, 10am-4pm
Summer Saturdays, 1-4pm unless advertised otherwise.
Winter Hours (May-Sept) are Tues-Fri each week from 1-4pm
Winter - Saturday openings 'On-call' ONLY, from 1-4 pm
All year (except December & January) 3rd Thurs of month, Family History/Whakapapa Research 1.30-3.30pm, gold coin donation - bring your own laptop or use one of ours. Afternoon tea provided. Other workshops are held as offered or to meet demand, ask to be on our email list, or watch out for our advertising around town.
To visit outside of these hours or for group bookings, please contact us, we can seat 16 and have 3 public use computers.
NOTE: As we are a non-profit run by volunteers, there may be the odd time an exceptional circumstance/emergency means we cannot be open. If we have prior warning of this, we will post it on our Social Media, so please check that.


OVERVIEW:
Remember this is YOUR archive in your local community, a place where you can save and store any local history. It is also your place to become more involved in supporting your local and district community and to receive support within your community. You can also access local history here.

You can either donate district heritage to our care on behalf of the community, or even have it copied for free, without it leaving your ownership, if you would rather engage with our digital sharing and preservation program. The online archive is a place where everybody within the community can contribute, comment, interact, share memories and our combined history. We do not need to take your important history to keep unless you wish us to. We can professionally copy it, ensure these copies are safe and share them with the community. Your heritage remains in your hands if you want this to happen, but it also ensures both yourselves and the community have a copy kept safe from future degradation or disaster.

If you have precious family or club memories you want to share with others but retain ownership of, the online community archive is a perfect solution for you.

FINAL NOTE:
As this is a new site, a new model and a community voluntary Heritage Institution, please can you bear with us as we progress, grow and add new features, both online and at the Community Archives Hub. The plan is for each local community to have their own entries within the site both online and at the Heritage Hub, and for all the early settler families in each of these, to also be included in that, along with all past and current clubs, societies and businesses, community events or environmental projects, with a brief history and photos of each. We also anticipate expanding our Community Services to offer more support for the local community and would be interested in hearing from those resident here, what their main needs would be and what other options they would like to see for use of the new CWA Community & Heritage Hub that we have opened for them.
