Apothecary weight set in bakelite case
Shared by Cromwell Museum
Vintage apothecary microid metric weights stored in a black bakelite box with a textured lid. On the hinged lid is the manufacturer's logo. Inside the box are eight brass weights ranging from 2 grams to 100 grams. A recess in the box contains nine small graduated weights ranging from 10 to 500 micrograms with a clear plastic lid. In another recess are a pair of tweezers. The inside top of the lid has a padded velvet pad. Donor's note: This weight set was used to weigh small samples of "wash" by panning, to determine if sluicing the area was likely to uncover gold.
