Sue Christie ; Trevor Moffitt; 1977; 2016.006
Shared by New Zealand Portrait Gallery Te Pūkenga Whakaata
While Trevor Moffitt's wife, Alison was very ill, several of her friends took turns looking after her. As a token of gratitude after Ali died, Moffitt painted their portraits. This particular portrait was done in three sittings. The subject, Sue Christie is pictured in bright clothing, which Moffitt requested she wore for the portrait sitting. At the time of this portrait, Christie was working as a Union Organiser for the Public Service Association in Christchurch.
