Vintage Wallpaper Trimmer

Shared by Mangawhai Museum

This Morgan Lee Wallpaper Trimmer has survived since the 1920’s with its original instructions and box. The item is composed of a cutter and guide. Also with this item, is a small blue box of ‘Paper-Strate Wallpaper Knife Blades’ made by Russel Harrington. It contains 3 of the 5 blades. Wallpaper trimmers became popular in the early to mid-1900s as wallpapering became a common home decoration method. These tools were designed to help create clean, precise edges when hanging wallpaper, allowing homeowners and professionals to cut wallpaper precisely along baseboards, corners, and around windows and doors.
