A lone gum digger
Shared by The Kauri Museum Matakohe
A loner - Ivan Yelavich. This Dalmatian is operating a large gum washing plant on his own. The plant has been set up in a semi permanent way, the engine (5HP Hornsby) is separate from the plant. Behind the plant can be seen an earth dam, used to block up a stream which serviced the washing drum by way of a flume that could be cut on or off as required.
