Jacqueline Fahey has focused on representing the people in her life for over seven decades. Her paintings always vehemently assert that who we are can never be understood in isolation from the relationships that define us. Verna Adam notes that, "this is an extension of Fahey's domestic interiors depicting the everyday life of a busy family. A young daughter, after a night out, collapsing into bed; an artist mother who seizes the opportunity to paint this fantasy. It's delightful." This painting examines Fahey's feelings toward her daughter beginning this new stage of her life and the experience if being a young woman venturing out into the nightlife scene.
