T-shirt, "woke lesbö"
Shared by the Charlotte Museum Te Whare Takatāpui-Wāhine o Aotearoa
Light blue t-shirt with dark blue trim at the neck and sleeves with dark blue print on the front "woke lesbö / Authorised by Miriam Ross / level 5, 108 The Terrace, Wellington". This is one of the t-shirts with the same design sold at the shop, Crushes, on Karangahape Road during and after the 2023 general election. The t-shirt came about when a campaign hoarding for candidate, Chlöe Swarbrick, was tagged with the slogan "woke lesbo". Swarbrick responded by embracing the slogan and a collaboration between Swarbrick, Crushes and Rainbow Youth saw t-shirts, bags, and hoodies being designed and sold with a portion of the profits being donated to Rainbow Youth. Swarbick identifies as queer or bisexual.
