Mangawhai Historical Society was formed 19th April 1970. In 1972 a permit was obtained from the Otamatea County Council to shift the Post Office at Mangawhai Village to a site on Mangawhai Library Hall land on Moir Street, Mangawhai Village, to be used as a Museum for the Mangawhai Historic Society. This photograph taken pre 1985, shows the relocated Post Office with a large walnut tree planted by Albert Wood on the right.
