Shared by Te Aroha & District Museum
This is a dummy hand grenade - homemade - spring loaded lever held down with pull pin - used by the Home Guard to practice throwing a grenade. It is a jam tin filled with concrete to give it some weight. It may have been made locally by Mackies as they also made the dummy .303 rifle
