Case, Carpet Laying Tools
Shared by Wyndham and District Historical Museum
This is a set of carpet laying tools. The tack lifter with its V-shaped tip would have aided the carpet layer in removing the tacks that secured any pre-existing carpet, while the two pairs of scissors would have been used for cutting the new carpet to the right size. The hammer-like tool is a tack hammer, which with its small head would have allowed for tacks to be nailed in very tight spaces. The linoleum knives would also have enabled the carpet layer to install lino or wood panels or other types of flooring. Do you know what the circular tool is used for?
