Covid-19 posters on Riddiford St, Wellington
Shared by
Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa
This photograph of a masked grocery shopper passing posters in Newtown was taken during the Covid-19 pandemic period when New Zealand was in Alert Level 3 (11.59pm on 27 April to 11.59pm on 13 May 2020). People were encouraged to keep two metres apart when out and about, particularly when shopping. Masks were not mandatory, but were encouraged by independent health experts. In terms of poster design, the government has used this look and feel for all of its communications, bringing clarity and consistency of messaging to the public during an unsettling and worrying period.
