Covid-19 testing centre at Newtown School, Wellington

Shared by Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa

This photograph shows the entrance to a temporary Covid-19 testing centre at Newtown School in Wellington. It was taken during the Covid-19 Alert Level 4 lockdown (11.59pm on 25 March to 11.59pm on 27 April 2020) when all schools were closed. The government set up a number of community testing centres around the country to give people safe places to get tested and take pressure off medical centres and hospitals. The photograph is one of many scenes captured by Te Papa photographers who took their cameras with them when they went on local walks during lockdown.
